The exciting extended matchup where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise over last year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
